Livina unlocked the front door to the apartment, and juggled the two bags of groceries in her arms as she stepped inside. She kicked the door shut behind her, dropped the keys and her backpack by the door, and carried the bags toward the kitchen.

"Mama!" came the excited yell as she entered the front room in time to see Trago leap apparently up from the couch where he'd been sitting next to... Phaeton and rushed over to her. She looked from her son, checking for damage, to Phaeton and then back to the boy.

"Don't yell in the house..." he rasped in a scolding tone as he turned his head toward her. "Where you been?" he asked in a slower, more dangerous tone next.

"The store. You want to eat don't you?" she shot back. Phaeton gave a short humorless grunt of a laugh. "Been gone a long time. Weren't here when I woke." he said and slowly rose from the couch and walked toward her. He'd long ago memorized the layout of the furniture and rooms of the apartment, so he moved with the ease and grace of someone with full sight.

"It took as long as it took." she said and handed one of the bags to Trago and gave him a quick shove between the shoulder blades. They had long ago developed silent cues to each other for communication when Phaeton was nearby. He quickly left the room to put the bag in the kitchen, then disappear into his bedroom. Phaeton turned to watch mostly the sound of the boy leaving, then slowly looked back at Livina as he stepped in close to her and slid his arms around her waist. Her arms were full of the bag, so there was no deflecting his hands from where ever he was planning to put them. He pulled her close to him, his groin against her hip and leaned in to press his nose into her hair, then against the side of her neck.

Livina shivered, she couldn't help it. Even after all the time they'd been together now, and how reasonably calm he'd been as of late, he still terrified her. His violent temper was just a heartbeat away. She could hear him inhale slow and deep, then exhale hot breath on her skin. "Hmmmm...." he said and leaned back, apparently satisfied, or reassured of something. She wasn't sure what, and she was sure she didn't want to find out. "Why do you have to get a job? What happened to the money coming in?" he said in a low growl, and gave her a gentle herding shove and she moved toward the kitchen with him in close tow behind.

"Trago is school age. He's going to school now, so they figure I can work. When he turns 18, I lose the free apartment."

"His name is Maloik." he rasped at her.

"What?"

"I renamed him. He's my son. I don 't like the name you picked. Neither does he." he said and chuckled darkly.

Livina stopped walking and stared at him. "What? You can't do that!" she protested and all it took was a slow tilt of his head to change the angle he was looking at her and a subtle shift of his posture to still the protest. Phaeton gave another breathy laugh. "We talked about it. I didn't THREATEN him." he said sourly. "I told him about other names, other meanings, other cultures. For crissakes, where did you get his name from anyway, a bottle of booze or something?" he sneered and pushed her toward the kitchen again.

"It's not from a bottle of booze!" she countered, "It means... to drink." she said and walked ahead of him into the kitchen to create some distance between them, even if for a short time. Phaeton laughed as he followed her slowly, not in any sort of rush at all. "To drink... to drink... WHAT I wonder..." he said and with a squint and slow survey of the kitchen, he spotted the bag the boy had left on the table before vanishing into his room. Phaeton sauntered over to it and stuck his hand into it and began feeling around. He alternated grunts, with curious sounds as he felt around and then finally he pulled his hand out with a package of powdered donuts in it. "Yummy yum..." he said, momentarily pacified by sugar rather than sex, and moved to lean back against the counter as he tore the bag open and began to eagerly stuff donut after donut into his mouth and ate them greedily. Soon his hand and mouth and chin were covered in white powdered sugar. Livina turned to look at him and gave an impatient shake of her head as she put away the rest of the groceries.

Once that was done, she walked around the table between them to go check on Trago, and as she had partially expected, he moved quickly to block her path of exit. His arms were held out from his sides, and his legs slightly spread as he stood in the doorway leading from the kitchen to the hallway. He grinned widely at her and ran his tongue around his lips in a circle to remove most of the powdered sugar. "Kiss me baby..." he grinned, and reached for her and gripped her by the hips with his powder covered hands and pulled her up tight to him. One dusty hand moved to the center of her back and pushed, the other at the base of her spine.

She hesitated only for a heartbeat, then leaned in as his mouth connected with hers. His mouth opened and covered her lips in a clumsy, sugar and tongue filled kiss. "Hmmmmm....." he hummed, and tilted his head to the side for a better angle. Livina's hands had been trapped between his body and hers, and slowly, she slid them up to frame his face as she joined him in the kiss. The minute he felt her respond positively to him, he spun them around, until it was her back pressed against the doorframe and pushed forward with his hips.

"I like... to suck face...." he growled when he took a pause in the kiss to catch a full breath of air, then covered her mouth again. She liked it too. She'd told him so, and it did make her more receiving to sex, and since he enjoyed it as well, it was something he continued. She gave a little moan into his mouth when he launched his hips against hers and slammed her back against the frame. Phaeton laughed, he took it as a positive response from her. Anything besides tears and screaming was, right?
